Save money by making environment "green"

Less dependence on fuel means save more money

Try to avoid using car and motorbike for nearby jobs and works, so it saves your money by spending less gasoline.

Walk or use cycle to work. This not only saves on gasoline but also on parking costs while improving your cardiovascular health and reducing your risk of obesity.

Make awareness in your locality and among friends and colleagues so it would also helps in making your environment green and free from hazardous atmosphere.

Consider telecommuting if you live far from your work. Or move closer. Even if this means paying more rent, it could save you money in the long term.

With little cost, these improvements can pay huge dividends in bettering your health and reducing traffic.

Save water, save nature and help others

Water saving not only saves money but be beneficial for the society. As we all know, water is not available in abundance in even some areas of our nearby location.

So here are some step through which we can save water so money as well:

  • Take shorter showers to reduce water use. This will lower your water and heating bills too.
  • Install a low-flow water tapes and showerhead. They don't cost much, and the water and energy savings can quickly pay back your investment.
  • Dual flush systems with normal flush tanks in the bathrooms or use low volume flush tanks.
  • Plant drought-tolerant plants in your garden. Many plants need minimal watering. Find out which occur naturally in your area.

Reduce usage of bottled water

Bottled water is not only expensive but also produces huge amount of container waste which is harmful for our environment as well. But if its necessary then bring reusable water bottle, preferably aluminum rather than plastic, when traveling or at work.

Use a water filter at least at home to purify tap water instead of buying bottled water. This saves time and money.

Slash dependence on use of Plastic Bags: Although using a tote bag is good option, but paper bags can also be used. Plastic bags creates pollution, as if you burn these bags then it will emit toxic gas while if you want to bury then it will not be changed into fertilizers unlike other waste products.

Use energy-efficient appliances

Energy saver bulbs Always try to use such appliances which are efficient and consume less electricity. So prefer to use energy saver bulbs (CFLs). They cost a bit more than regular bulbs, but you'll lower your electric bill and pay less in the long run — CFLs last up to 10 times longer than traditional ones.

These Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs) use less energy to produce better light than standard light bulbs. They use 75% less energy and last longer than other bulb technologies. There are three categories of the bulbs to make life at home easier:

Standard CFLs for your everyday (and night) lighting needs.

Cool White CFLs increase the contrast on the page when you're reading, so they're ideal for work areas such as a home office or study.

Full Spectrum or Daylight CFLs make it feel like it's sunny inside. They're designed to imitate sunlight and they're best suited for indirect lighting inside.

One can also use dimmer switches and use timers, indoors and in lawns and gardens to save some more bucks.

Unplug appliances when you're not using them. Or, use a "smart" power strip that senses when appliances are off and cuts "phantom" or "vampire" energy use.

Energy EfficientThermostat: Set thermostat a few degrees lower in the winter but try not to use it during summer season to save some more bucks. Nowadays, you can find thermostat which uses energy through solar panels.

Use energy efficient washing machines are those that reduce the amount of energy and water. With new technology, washing machines today are much better suited for the environment, and for washing clothes. This means that switching to one of the most efficient green washing machine models will save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a more efficient use of energy, and will reduce water consumption, helping to preserve the national water supply.

Use Cold water to wash clothes whenever possible. As much as 85 percent of the energy used to machine-wash clothes goes to heating the water

Prefer to use homemade washing and cleaning products

You can make very effective, non-toxic cleaning products whenever you need them. All you need are a few simple ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, lemon, and soap. Making your own cleaning products and saves some bucks, time, and packaging.

Choose Local farming products: If you buy locally, you won't have to rely on farms that ship food nationwide, which helps in saving some buck as local products are always available in lesser price. It also saves fuel and make our environment green and cut back on gas emissions.

Plantation: Planting trees, flowers and shrubs that are well suited to your climate. If required, ask your local farming / nursery experts. Plantation not only make your environment green, but also helpful for health. It also protects you from floods.

Teach your children to be clean & green:Give your little ones responsibility for your family's recycling and match whatever they make in deposits at the store. They'll learn about money and recycling at the same time.
